Unhappy multiple downloads lockup

After narrowing down my computer lock up, I figured out that when i attempt to download more than 2 downloads at a time my computer locks up, no blue screen or anything. just straight locks up not all at the same time but usually within 2-5 minz of the start of the download...i've reloaded windows and limewire, anybody know what the deal is... I am using:
windows xp
windowns firewall
P4 2.2 ghz
700 ram
100 g hd
Norton antivirus
Cbl modem/wireless card

When you start your LW, do you simply search the topics to downld in order to rebegin their downld or do you use the resume/find sources button on all files at the same time? The latter can cause problems on some people's systems since it tends to stress LW, the computer & possibly the connection (for some people.) See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) If your answer to my 1st question is option 1, then I'm not sure. Did this happen with previous versions you used? Which version of LW are you using? Is your firewall configured to allow LW full access? BTW do you also have Norton firewall? How is your Norton AV set? For manual or automatic checking of files? It might be getting activated everytime you start to downld a file. Maybe better to check files after they've completed downlding.

I have 4.9.28 version, I always make new searches & downloads never resumes. It only locks up when two or more downloads are going at a time. One at a time is okay. I configured my norton and firewall to the specs of lime wire.. not sure what's going on still...

So that means you also have norton firewall. I would recommend disabling XP's firewall because xp & norton FW's are known to clash with each other. (go to the control panel, double click on Windoze Firewall, check the disable box) You do have both norton FW & AV right? If yes then follow my suggestion & see if it makes a difference. It has for other people.
