Reading the other posts I sorta get the feeling that your can upgrade with a beta version if you have pro, correct?

Yes you can upgrade to betas as they come out from the bottom of your pro install page.

I'm having the same issue on linux Kubuntu I've tried reinstalling Java 3 times... also with different versions (4.2 and current) with no luck. but this might be a kubuntu (breezy) issue because I tried going back to .28 with no success and it worked before moving to breezy.
