So has anyone seen this or know why it is happening? It is happening continuously. Thanks People. ![]() LimeWire version 4.9.30 Java version 1.4.2_06 from Sun Microsystems Inc. ![]() Just one observation is it appears that you're firewalled without allowance for incoming. That might be due to your computer firewall or a hardware device like a modem/router using a NAT firewall. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Speed & tick & apply to Disable Ultrapeer Capabilities. This is of no use if you're firewalled. Why this memory problem is happening I don't know. Configuring your firewall may well help. Someone else may have some ideas. One possibility might be to jump back your java version but I won't suggest that until someone else has suggested alternatives. So how much ram do you have anyway? And how much available Hard disk drive space. Have you defragmented your HDD recently?

I disabled the software unit, no difference. I did disable Ultrapeer as you recommended. No change. ![]() I have 2 gig's of ram so I know that there is lots as it is showing a small amount being used when LW is running. 1.2 tb of free drive space. Drive is not fragmented. I dumped the page file and increased it also. I have noticed a large CPU spike when the error happens. Thanks and any other suggestions would be appreciated. |

![]() It is possible you may have a bad Java install. But I am not sure about that you might want to reinstall. You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there. Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary. Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire. Please post back and let us know if it worked. I do not know that this is your problem but it may be. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |

![]() Hi, I'm new to LW and am having the same damn problem with Java. I've done everything that LW support has suggested and all with no luck. I sympathize with you. I'm out money that they won't refund and the software doesn't work. I'll let you know if I come across a solution. I've tried all the suggestions below just like you and all to no avail. Please let me know if you have figured this out since you posted this. Thanks |

![]() By default LimeWire tells the Java virtual machine limits itself to 128 MB of heap size. It doesn't matter that you have 2 GB of RAM. Note that the JVM also uses some RAM for JIT-compiled methods, thread stacks, native library code, etc., so the JVM may use a little more than 128 MB total, but the heap will be limited to 128 MB. Which platform are you running? The way to change the parameters passed to the JVM is platform specific. Which OS are you using? |

![]() Hi Kmag: Thanks for replying. Since I last posted I have learned that the Java out of memory heap error is caused by a combination of sharing too many files and having to many files waiting in the que. I guess that exceeds the 128mbs of memory allotted for the Java program. I am running Windows XP and the Java platform is 5.0 update 4. Thanks again |
