Default LimeWire 1.8c beta

LimeWire has released the beta version of LimeWire 1.8c, available at:

http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/download_beta

This is primarily a bug-fix release.

Bug fixes include:

The Windows version will properly install all of the necessary components when a restart is required at the end of the install.

The Mac installers (Classic and OSX) are updated, and should solve the zip file errors that many users have seen.

The Mac installers set the memory requirements correctly.

A bug with previous versions where users would always appear as chattable regardless of whether or not they had disabled chatability has been fixed.

Any errors with launching now produce detailed error messages that users can report bach to developers.

We hightly recommend giving this beta a try particularly if you are experiencing problems with any of the above issues.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if this 1.8c fixes the problem of Limewire shutting down right after being launched?

I assume you are working on Windows? If so, the changes to the installer should fix this issue as well. We have also just made this the official release (even though it doesn't say so on the web site), so you can download 1.8c from the main download page.

Thanks.

Thumbs down segfault again

no success: 1.8c still segfaults at the end of the installation procedure.

For people having problems with the Windows installer, make sure that you have old versions uninstalled before trying the new installer. You can always get the old versions back again from:

http://www9.limewire.com/download/1.8b/LimeWireWin.exe

or

http://www9.limewire.com/download/1.7c/LimeWireWin.exe

etc.

Thanks.

For future reference, did it only work on your machine after you uninstalled the old version?

Thanks.
