Lightbulb Hang in there

I have the same problems as everybody else. My connections show up as 1-6 hosts. But if you don't know why this is, read through the forum pages and you'll find out. Our problem now is that a lot of LW members are disillusioned and stopped using 1.9 or 2.0.2. This has led to a huge drop in network size. All I can say is please keep running your software. Keep LW open all the time. It may not look like you're sharing to very many people, but you really are! The more people that get the idea, the more the network will grow.
As far as this new system of running things, I think it has great potential and it's great news for the guys that still can't get or can't afford Cable or DSL. The new system cuts down on frivilous network traffic. The lights on my modem used to go crazy the whole time LW was running, but now its really reasonable. It leaves a lot more room for uploads and downloads.
So again, please keep running your software whenever you can. Keep sharing your stuff.
And to the Limeys....I'll be happy to kick in my $6 as soon as I start getting some serious search results. Thanx

Thumbs up

You are exactly right. If everyone is patient and does their part by keeping limewire running then data will start to flow. We must all realize the long term results and not the short term. Ultrapeer is still new and its gonna take al ittle time in the begining for it to propogate everywhere. Until their is a substantial portion of the community running the ultrapeer verison of Limewire things are gonna seem a little scarce. So its gonna take everyone doing their part for the Gnutella network to rock. Just remember, ultrapeer is gonna let gnutella reach a level of efficiency, connectivity, and size that would not be possible without it. In the long term, the network is gonna be as vast as morpheus.

Default

maybe, but i don't trust limewire anymore
their greed for money (and now dlder.exe fiasco)totaly distroyed their reputation in my eyes.
with gnucleus i get alot more connections(2000+ connecting to 5-10hosts) then w/ or w/o limewire ultranodes.

Cool Okay

To each his own, but I still gotta hang in there with Limewire. I've noticed even more search results in the last couple days than I did last week. I think people are starting to get the idea, but it still needs to spread.
My biggest point is this....you still don't HAVE to pay anything, the six bucks is just to get rid of ads (and maybe a couple of features). I can't consider that gready. And, really, how hard is it to launch LW when you boot up and let is sit in the background? It's not that big of a sacrafice to share what you've got. LW's just going to get bigger, just give it a little more time. - Thanx

Default Greed for money?!

I'm sorry - i mean, i do realize that you're probably under the age of 15, but if you're posting here i'd assume you were somewhat of an intelligent individual. Money doesn't grow on trees, and neither does free software. Contrary to popular belief here, it does require income to keep a business (such as limewire) running. Now personally i don't think 1) Having ads at the bottom of the screen or 2) having the option of paying $6 to have a version _without_ the ads is much of a price to pay. Limewire is HARDLY HARDLY greedy. I'm suprised they manage to get by on the little income they DO have (these people do have families you know).

Default the money (greed) issue

...

I believe that if the people at Limewire believe they will make anything close to a living off of a product like this they are seriously fooling themselves. First, this software is based on open source... hmmm ... means it's a freeforall out there. Second ... being open source ... there are a lot of free (no ads or charges) programs out there that also access the gnutella network. The profitability of this type of software is extremely limited at best. And if they have families they are being quite irresponsible if they are basing their income on this program. And they have shown little forsight with how they have handled adding new features and have alienated quite a few of what would have been loyal customers.

Just my 2 cents,

Anomalie
