Default 2.0.4 Won't install.......

2.0.4 install hangs everytime on me.....it gets to the poing where it tries to retreive:

http://www.installengine.com/Msiengine20/instmsia.exe

...and it seems that "no one answers the phone" on the other end and the install won't go any further. I'm offerd the choices of "Retry" or "Cancel" and many, many retries yeild nothing. I've bypassed my firewall completely and still the problem persists.

Suggestions.....??

Best Regards - B.B.S.

Default ....not yet

I installed the Java Runtime Environment, and I still get the same failure when the installer tries to download

http://www.installengine.com/Msiengine20/instmsia.exe

....what is that file? Can I download it and run it prior to running the Limewire client install?

I installed an older (1.8) version of Limewire with no difficulty. I'm flummoxed; any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Cheers - B.B.S.

Ah , the stupid installer !
Why didn't you mention that before ?
We know some people occaisionaly get that problem ....
Just download the zip file version from the LW site :
http://www9.limewire.com/beta/2.1.1/...ireWinNoVM.zip

This is actually better then the installer version since it doesn't put CyDoor (spyware) on your system .

Or download an completly ad-free 2.1.1 version :

Default Better but not there yet.....

Ok, I got it running.....sort of.

I downloaded the files and unzipped them into a directory on my hard drive. I started RunLime.jar and an "installer" of sorts ran. All seems pretty well.....except I'm not sure how to properly run the sofware. There's a "runlime.bat" batch file that opens a DOS window, and executes the program. However, when exiting the program, the DOS window never closes and LimeWire doesn't seem to remember changes I've made in the "Options" catagory, like which directories to share.

Wow, this is making me feel dumb......

Thanks again for your assistance - very much appreciated.

Mmm ...
If you have a runlime.bat then you downloaded the one from the official LW site right ?
(The first link I gave you )

Try deleting deleting the runlime.bat file I think that's the problem why it isn't remembering its settings .
And just run LW with Runlime.jar .

Making a shortcut to Runlime.jar is complicated , I will look it up it when I get back .
About to go to the movies with my girlfrend , were gonna watch "Behind Enemy Lines" .

I'll post again in a few hours , have to go now .

Default GGGRrrrrrr......

Well, I can't get the &^%$I&&^$!!! thing to run at all. I get an error box for a "java lock error" and then I get an "abnormal program termination" and the program exits.

One thing; the Java RTE I downloaded and installed is NOT 1.3.1; it's now 1.3.1_02. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.....??

If it would help, I'll copy the exact text of the error message, but I've got to admit I'm just about to give up on this......

Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks again.....

Make sure you have the latest JRE .
Copy the error message that you get when you doubleclick on RunLime.jar inhere .
This is starting to loook like a general Me problem .
If we can't figure anything out from the error message , then we gotta call the developers inhere .
