Default Number of connections

Shouldn't the number of connections be limited? I only have a cable modem and it limits me to 6. But I lie and say I have a faster connection and then I can connect to over 30 people - I didn't see that there even was a limit. This happens in leaf mode! This can't be good. Should leafs have a limit of ultrapeers they can connect to? Would they ever need to connect to more than 6? or whatever the number is? Thank you.

The default is 3. On startup it only connects to 3, even though you may have it on 6. 3 is enough for good results. Anymore than 3, ultrapeers are pointless b/c you're getting just as much traffic as 0.4 clients.
