first time user

I have a few quistions but for now I just want to know how do you know when the downloaded is finished..In the status got some numeral running what ever that mean,in the progress is 0% .Is the progress where it's telling to how much is download or not ,and if so well how long does it take because I been here for 2 hours.Please some help here
