Default Ultrapeerness

Is there any way to limit the number of leaf nodes you will accept as an Ultrapeer? Since loading the beta I've suddenly started acting as an Ultrapeer and leafs node, if you'll pardon the pun, seem to be branching out all over.

On a different, but related, note, I noticed what I thought was a pretty cool feature in another client I tried -- passive searches. I believe the idea was that you would specify semi-permanent search criteria and the client would check all the results being passed through your node to see if any of them matched your criteria. You're dealing with the data anyway, might as well see if there's anything interesting in it, right? This feature doesn't make any sense for the leaf nodes in the Ultrapeer/leaf structure that's currently being advocated, but it might make a nice perk for those selfless clients who donate their compute time and bandwidth for the good of the network -- the Ultrapeers.

Now this is a good idea .
If youre on an SDSL , the UltraPeer mode can eat up all bandwitdt and CPU power while an SDSL isn't some lightweight connection .
Some benefit should be for UltraPeers .

But by the time the LW crew has this implemented we will all have beards .

Too late; I've had a beard for more years than I care to admit to. And don't say we'll all have gray beards -- it's too late for that too.

16... Ah, yes, I have a vague recollection of having been 16. Don't recall many of the details. High school sucked; I remember that much.

Well, we really only called it high school because it was on top of a hill. The other schools were all lower down in the valley. We all gathered in a circle and the teacher drew in the dirt with a stick. (Dirt was a fairly new invention at the time.) She mostly drew pictures of animals and hunters with spears and grunted a lot, what with language not being developed till much later. It was a real challenge trying to explain calculus with animal pictures and grunting. On the other hand, dating was a lot simpler. You just picked the girl you wanted, hit her on the head with your club and dragged her off behind a bush. Ah, the good old days.

Chalk boards... Ah, the memories of being rewarded for good behavior by being allowed to clean the erasers. It's not every kid who gets the pleasure of breathing in half a pound of chalk dust every week.
