Default How do I get more connections for torrent download?

I'm attempting to download a torrent via Limewire and even if the original source says there are hundreds of seeders it never actually downloads. It may say that it is downloading from 1-3 sources but the download speed never exceeds 1 or 2 kbs. I used to have this problem with bittorrent and I would just restart the program and it would refresh the list of hosts but how do I maximize torrent connections via limewire? Is there a settings section just for the bittorent feature? I just started using limewire for my torrents and can't seem to find any help info. Thanks.

There's not a real lot limewire have said about the torrents...Apparently many sites ban limewire from downloading torrents...So I really don't know how to tweak the settings to get more hosts...

Do you see a wall in front of the globe in Limewire ?? The reason I ask is you may be firewalled and that's the reason for the lack of hosts and download speed..

Normally with torrent sharing, the larger your share ratio, especially if your upload ratio is higher than your download then you will get more hosts, etc. This is something that can be adjusted within most torrent programs as to how much you upload & download & who you allow to share with you .. eg: a minimum share ratio (that's why you can be connected to a large number of hosts yet not get any speeds). I do believe this affects many LW users who tend to download a much greater % than they upload, thus their share ratio is quite low & get filtered out by the better sharers with the high speeds (thus you don't connect to them at all or get zero download speed as a result). With Azureus for example, I think if your share ratio drops below 0.75% your download speed drops .. and if the ratio gets any lower, then your downloads can actually stop or drop to zero speed. So you need to wait for your uploads to catch up to your download quantity.

Some torrent sites block LW & some other part time torrent programs they don't feel make the grade. There's also more than one torrent protocol & LW is only using one of them.

Can torrent programs filter out or give low priority to specific torrent clients? Whilst not being totally in the know, I do believe this is possible.

LW handles only 5 torrents at once.

uTorrent is a much better way to handle torrents.

And Azureus is even better than uTorrent.

The reason Limewire is banned is that it does not always respect tracker announce times, and at times does not sent a stopped message to let the tracker know that it's out of the swarm. You cannot turn of completely DHT (Main reason I think). Also it changes the folder (at least it did when I tried it). It is usually listed together with the likes of FrostWire, Shareaza etc. as not a proper BitTorrent client.

Use Azureus or uTorrent for torrents.
