Normally with torrent sharing, the larger your share ratio, especially if your upload ratio is higher than your download then you will get more hosts, etc. This is something that can be adjusted within most torrent programs as to how much you upload & download & who you allow to share with you .. eg: a minimum share ratio (that's why you can be connected to a large number of hosts yet not get any speeds). I do believe this affects many LW users who tend to download a much greater % than they upload, thus their share ratio is quite low & get filtered out by the better sharers with the high speeds (thus you don't connect to them at all or get zero download speed as a result). With Azureus for example, I think if your share ratio drops below 0.75% your download speed drops .. and if the ratio gets any lower, then your downloads can actually stop or drop to zero speed. So you need to wait for your uploads to catch up to your download quantity.
Some torrent sites block LW & some other part time torrent programs they don't feel make the grade. There's also more than one torrent protocol & LW is only using one of them.
Can torrent programs filter out or give low priority to specific torrent clients? Whilst not being totally in the know, I do believe this is possible. |
