Default Uh Oh

Look I tried searching for blank files referring to blank MP3 files but it never turned up any links so a friendly bit of advice would have been nicer than a short sharp hyperlink dont you think .......... was you a school teacher in a former life ?

I can't give any advice if you don't explain yourself.

What do you mean you are searching for blank files? What are blank files? Are you searching on Limewire or on the internet? What player are you using to 'preview' these files? Can you otherwise listen to music on your computer? Did you actually read this guide?

Sorry but I haven't found my way round here yet, m,y apologies if I posted in the wrong place

What I was trying to say was I was searching the forum to find out if people were experiencing files that were allegedly MP3 files but just turned out to be blank with a noisy hiss when previewed

Thanks! That's much more clear. I haven't encountered that myself.

Does it happen a lot? Can you give some examples of what type of file you are downloading (no file names), i.e. how many hosts, what bitrate, connection type of host? Are the files you're attempting to download very new or popular?

Spam is getting more and more common on the network. With your input, we can all be better equipped to avoid it if possible! By the way, you can listen to music on your computer, right? Some songs do play?

Thanks

Dan

Yup sure I have tried the same track in 3 different formats MP3 wma M4a and 5 different bitrates for the MP3 all to no avail when I do get about 10% downloaded from an MP3 or wma file all I get is the hiss whils dowloading a different MP3 at the same time is fine

Tried previewing with the inbuilt player Jet Winamp & windows player all with the same resul M4a is a new one on me no preview at all

thx for your reply btw

my strategy for searching is to type in .avi or .mpg in the video search feild. with the most popular results at the top I then download what looks appealing and browse hosts within the search results...most the time if you have something downloading you'll be getting it from 8 hosts. Then you right click and browse host in the download window to get a different host than the one you browsed in the search results!Once you have multiple hostss up in your search tabs, browse away at other peoples tastes because they often have stuff you wouldn't normally find in the nnormal search window.. This is my first post and i want to find out easier ways to get hard to find stuff..I often find very rare songs and videos that certain hostss have but im unable to download because it says need more sources. Is it worth upgrading to LW pro? It claims to give better search results.

@ Jezzard

It's people working for the recordcompany, that artist of said song/album is signed to, that release and share bogus files on the network, to prevent people from downloading the real one.

I bet it had lots of hosts sharing it as well.

Try really reading through this guide and I'm sure you will find a way past it.
