i'm new to this stuff.

i use win xp sp2 256mb ram, norton anti virus 2006, 64 kbps connection speed (cable connection) and can download @ 8 to 10 KB/s a 700mb file using limewire 4.10.9 pro

i would like to know whether i could increase this speed somehow ?

please help me.

That's about the best speed that you can expect from a 64kbps connection

yes, it indeed is. 10 kbps on a 64kbps connection! lol i get that on a 2 meg connection! (on some downloads)

The new LW 4.12.3 will automatically add a no. to the file-name so that problem is solved.

I do exactly as you say, but all my download does is get slower and slower.

erm you expect help? well im gonna need some info...eg an actual problem to overcome, you say you have done all that is said...havew you done it correctly? it takes some fine tuning..and by getting slower and slower, do you mmean it actualy does get slower and slower or its just real slow? because the speed is afected by a few things:

time of day- people with the file have to be online, and the right people
your internet connection
their internet connection (only go for those with full stars of quality)
firewalls
number of people who have the file (time of day)
try it with different files and see what happens

without a proper problem, im afraid i can provide little/no further help
