Can I *force* my computer to be an ultrapeer? I used to use Limewire Pro 4.8.1 on WinXP Professional with a 2.3mbps connection, and whenever I connected to the Gnutella network I would always be an Ultrapeer (30+ connections) with all the perks: blazing fast downloads, excellent search results and the like.
However, since I've been running Limewire (same version) on WinXP Home I am always a leaf node, warts and all: sluggish downloads, awful search results etc.
Now, according to the Ultrapeer Election Criteria ( http://www.limewire.com/developer/Ultrapeers.html) my computer must have the following: - No firewall.
- Suitable operating system.
- Sufficient bandwidth.
- Sufficient uptime.
Since my downgrade to XP Home, the only thing that has changed about my system is the OS.
Is the fact that I'm using XP Home the reason I can no longer be an Ultrapeer?
