Couldn't find shared files on another client
 

Hi,

We have some problems with shares.
We are making music and want to publish the files on gnutella network.
We decided to use limewire. Before publishing them we wanted to make some tests. 3 of us shared the files. We are all connected from seperate places.

The problem is we couldn't find the files that we shared.
Both clients are configured properly (firewall settings etc.), all of them have supernode enabled. We choose unique names for our files for testing. We tried searching from every client we have but we couldn't find the files we share.

What is wrong with our configuration?
Is there anything that we can do for sharing our content?

Do any of you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue globe)?

Within LW go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Now scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'...is it true or false? If it's true then you can recieve incoming connections & there shouldn't be a problem. If it's false, there's a lot of info within the sticky below (check out the bits about enabling UPnP/port forwarding in case the problem's a router firewall)

Remember the network's huge & so you won't see every shared file around! You could always try direct connecting, then browsing each others files to see if your music shows up. For this to work, you'll all need to have Chat enabled & not see the firewall icon

No, everything's fine, no firewall & nat etc.Ports are free.Our connection is strong.

"Received incoming this session" is True.

"You won't see every shared file around" Is this for real? How can we solve this problem?
I'm not comparing but in ed2k you can find everyfile, nomatter where it is.Maybe the source's from Somalia & you'r Istanbul.It takes a little time but finally you can find it.

We want to know, if I share a file with Limewire, that means I share it to the whole Limewire (Gnutella) network, or not ???

If your files are being shared with LW, they're being shared on Gnutella. But it doesn't mean that every single person using a Gnutella client (at the time you're online) will be able to find your file in a search. Your searches can only take you so far, depending on the ultrapeers/peers you're connected to at the time & who they in turn are connected to...and so on. I tend to see mainly LW ultrapeers/peers & I assume it's the same for the different clients (ie BearShare would see more BS u/ps, Raza would see more Raza u/ps etc).

Clicking on the Connections tab will show you which ultrapeers you're connected to. You can change ultrapeers (right click > remove, a new ultrapeer will replace the removed one) & this will often change the results that you see in searches. Because the new u/p is connected to other new u/ps...you get the picture! So it might take some time for some users to see your files in a search...depending on who else they're connected to.

Did you try direct connecting & browsing each others' files? Sounds like your setup is all good & if you were able to see the files when browsing, I think you'll just have to trust that they're out there & available to the punters.

I can't really explain the workings of the network too well:o, someone like stief could explain it much better!!

Hvaing a little trouble understanding this post, but if you are looking for a file that you share yourself it will no show up. When doing the test, remove the files from the computer that you use to find the file on the network with. Close and restart Limewire before doing the search.

As an alternative solution you can PM me the IP of the Supernode setup connection and some filenames, then I can search the network or try Direct Connect to see if I'm successful in getting the files. Are you by any chance using some old version of Limewire since you call them Supernodes? People using Limewire usually call them UltraPeers.
