WMA or MP3 I am trying to get my own compositions onto Limewire but they are all on the WMA format and not MP3. Will that make a difference with regards to anyone who wants to download one or more of my tracks ? I have since copied all my WMA files to mp3 (not replaced, just copied) but none of the mp3 files are showing up in my Limewire library. Why is this ? we generally advise ppl to avoid that format...for various reasons...simply take the time to covert the files from their .wav format to high bitrate mp3 format..

ppl = people .wav is the uncompressed format of an audio file... example: a .wav format of one of my songs is about 45MB for a 3:30 file, compressed to mp3 @ 320kb/s bitrate its about 8MB

Yes, I have all my own compositions on both WMA and mp3 and in my 'Shared Music' folder and my 'My Music' folder. Both of which are open for sharing. Update - now all my mp3 files (i.e. my own compositions) are in the Library but all are in red lettering. Any ideas ? Last edited by Robert the Bruce; November 18th, 2006 at 12:44 PM. |

That's why peerless mentioned the wav files, which are lossless Incase your don't have better copies than wma, then take this as a learning experience. There are BTW forums that discuss this keeping quality preserved while making music. If this is electronica or similar that you are making, one comes to mind http://www.sectionz.com/home.asp It's a site for unknown musicians. It is possible to get a lot of tips there regarding the whole process from start to finished project. Also you can upload samples to the site in Mpeg format |

To Peerless What are lossless files ? As for the red lettering, I managed to solve that simply by going to Limewire Library, clicking onto song and selecting 'start sharing file'. Thanks for your help. Oh and I ripped the music again and now I have both WMA and Mp3 versions of my songs. Would I be correct in saying there should'nt be a problem for anyone with that ? |
