Default OK...Ive paid once..again??

I have had limewire for about a year and its loaded on my desktop,,I now have a laptop and want to use it here. Do i have to pay again? Site isnt recognizing my email as a user...grrrrrrr I am not happy now what do i do.

It up to the user to backup their installers. You should do that whenever buying software of the internet.

Buying Limewire Pro only provides you with 6 months of updates as clearly stated on the site when buying it.

Default Paying again...I am stumped on this...

I'm with you Yepit'sme...

I paid for the one off cost too...I'm an Ozzie so every six months I have to pay $20 ozzie dollars...I thought it was a one off fee too...

Also they did produce a CD, I have a written letter from limewire to confirm this tho I didn't buy it but just took the electronic link which now every time I want to update, I have to buy the new version...however...in March 2006, I paid another $20 and am now being told I have to pay for tech support, why do I need tech support I have you wonderful people here to help me and visa versa. But we do need the updates not upgrades but updates, so why do we have to pay for updates when most programs are free to update , even Windows gives it's users free updates, sure we have to pay for upgrades, this we all know, but updates???...does that make sense???...I have copied the notes below...I want so much to be able to understand exactly what all this means...


Q: How much does LimeWire cost?

A: LimeWire BASIC is completely free to download and use. An enhanced version of LimeWire, LimeWire PRO, is also available for a one time charge. LimeWire PRO can be purchased as an electronic download only.
LimeWire is a software application. The one-time payment for LimeWire PRO is a payment to purchase a copy of the program. PRO purchasers also receive Technical Support via email and up to 6 months of free updates.

You will not be charged again by Lime Wire after your initial purchase. After 6 months, PRO users have the option to purchase an additional 6 months of technical support and free updates for a reduced price.
But to add light on the low update price is still $20...every six months...isn't it exorbinent, like cost toooo much...


Maybe I'm old and grouchie, sorry folks...

Could someone pleeeze put light on this for me...so I can understand it better... why I have to pay six monthly for updates...thanks so much...I am not disgruntled at the program, I love LimeWire I just hate having to part with unnecessary funds...

As you quoted, the one time payment for Pro is a payment to purchase a copy of the program...exactly that You pay your $18.88 USD & you've bought your version of Pro. You can keep using that, (plus any updated versions that you download during the 6 months) until the cows come home!

As it says on the Pro page, your payment covers you for up to 6 months worth of free updates...so therefore after the 6 months are up the updates aren't free!!
You don't have to update, you can stick to whatever versions you've downloaded but if you choose to update you'll have to pay again

You won't be charged again if you decide not to update. The version(s) you've bought are yours. But...it's every user's responsibility to save & back up their installers. People who don't bother to save their installers & then decide they want to use a version they'd previously downloaded will find they have to buy again to get more Pro. Which is fair enough really...if you buy a program from a shop & lose the disc, you can't go back to the shop & get another copy for free

I hope this clears things up a bit. You don't have to update, it's personal choice whether you do or don't. But you do have to take care of your installers.

I know what you mean...I installed basic on one pc and want to move it to another. Grateful for any advice!

Basic's free! The current version's 4.12.6. You can either download it onto the other computer from this link...

...or copy the original installer (if you have it) onto disc/external drive & install onto the 2nd computer that way

Actually I purchased over 6 mo ago and i have downloaded it again and again and again ( I have this issue with getting anoyed and wiping my puter lol) I simply click on "get pro" and go to the registration page in the upper right hand corner is a link that says "already paid?" I click on that and enter the e-mail i used durring registration....

Hi Steven...

I did the Pro sign in umpteen times but because I changed my email address I had no access and so I had to start over again.

In saying that, I sent my new details to Limewire but the details hadn't been changed tho I did receive confirmation back to say my details had been updated. All that aside, Limewire still did not accept my new email addy.

I made contact again re changes and I also asked why we had to keep paying 6 monthly. I do now understand now but I do not agree with the charges. Anway to add, I paid for another 6 months a few days ago but I cannot see any changes to the way LW looks nor can I see any advantages!

I was able to sign in after the purchase or the other curt option suggested to me "was to join the LW freebie.." You see when I made my enquiry as to why we had to pay six monthly I did get a rather curt email back suggesting LW does not give out free software which I did not ask for and found the suggestion insulting.

I also asked if I may purchase a CD of LW and I was also told there was never a CD offered but when I checked my documentation, there was suggestion but I decided not to argue with this person.

So I guess I am a little disgruntled and my reasoning is this. I can not find any movies that I want to download and if I do they're generally not the real thing or only part of or something completely different.

As suggested I downloaded the Bitz thing but it knocked my puter around, which I'm not sure as to why? Not only this, our Pro or Free clients of LW are not sharing their files, sure they download what they want, then shut down completely, so we are not given access. The other reason given is that we are not obliged to have access because of the licensce scenario etc, etc.

Also our LW counterparts only allow limited upload speeds so it takes three or four days to download a movie AND THEN it's usually a blob!! For instance, ********...I finally downloaded it after 4 days and I might add it took weeks to find a file but when I began to play it for my grandson, it was a French Porn show, my grandson was only 7 years old and to me that was an absolute disgusting disgrace. I was so upset but I am also thankful he didn't get to view it, my response has never been faster...some might think that this is funny, but it's not, it's serious!!

If we are Pro supporters of LW (paid members) why are we not being given some special preferences. How often do we need tech support? The only reason I emailed them was to change my email address intitially but otherwise I really haven't used the service.

Sorry I am generally easy to get along with but I feel a little cheated in a way, maybe it's ignorance, if so then albeit. I would be interested in veiws from other LW Pro's.

I haven't said all this to be an angry ant it's just because I feel a little let down. I am a genuine person not out to point fingers or be offensive or whatever but are there any other disgruntled members or am I it ???

To date everyone has been great with their help and I really appreciate your kindness, I really do...I won't name the movies I want but but both are just not available, can't find em...I'm worried about using the bitz program again tho I did make 1 report and bitz said mine was the first one with comments...so I felt chuffed about that...

Anyway thanks guys n gals...you have all been great...
