![]() I've got some DJ mixes to share and wonder how does the search look for files on the network? These are mp3 audio files. 1) Firstly I went into the LIBRARY tab and used the DESCRIBE button to change the information here under the AUDIO tab. Figured that Limewire rights some info to the mp3 data tags for searching. But since I've finally becoming a digital DJ after 20years with vinyl, I start encountering the whole mp3 tags things. Being able to store Album art, lyrics, artist, bpm, note and other meta data.......it got me thinking that well maybe Limewire doesn't use the standard mp3 data tags and encodes it's own meta data (which is what I understand Traktor is doing with my tracks) into the mp3 file. 2) So then I decide to edit the mp3 tags using an mp3 editor program. I change and add to the Title, Artist and Album information for each file. Quit the program, Restart Computer, Open Limewire, Refresh, wait for the red to turn to blue. Click a file. Check the description and now there's nothing there. So have I lost my mp3 tagging? Have I lost my Limewire tagging? Which is the way to go? I'm assuming the Limewire tagging will be the best? thanks. I've always wondered about this. thnks Mrph |

![]() the id3 tag 2.3 seems to translate well on Limewire. If you use some other versions they don't seem to. I personally don't have that much faith in the Limewire labelling devise. A lot of info put in there seems to dissappear ![]() It may help you to share some other similar music, and if you enable chat (which does not work on the 4.12.6 Limewire btw) and ensure you have no firewall problems, then others can browse your share and find your mixes. (Enabling Chat does still, I believe, help) Just in case you didn't know, your own music will not show up if you search for it on your own computer, unless some one else has downloaded it and is sharing it. I hope this helps a bit ![]() |

![]() Excellent. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I rechecked and the ID3 tags I place were still there and thankfully it was already deafaulted to use v2.3.0 format. Seemed like it worked as people downloaded files that have never seen much action before. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
