Default searching on a single character

How do you do a search on, say, a band that is called 'X' ?

searching on 'X' itself is useless, searching on 'X the band' yields nothing, searching by song would take forever, and I don't remember all the names of the songs.

The name of the band is one letter?

I'd google the band name and try to find out more specifics, such as name of an album or song...

Yes, the name of the band is 'X', and the Los Angeles Times rated them as the most influential band of the 80's, which you may not think much of, but some decent bands were around in the 80's. The Rolling Stones were 2nd.

They have out about 12 or so albums, I was hoping there was a way I could search on the band name, as not everyone lists albums, just songs, and hafl the time they misspell the names of the songs....

If you are in S. California, I have no idea why you have not heard of them, perhaps a bit too young ? That's NOT a bash - I am being honestly serious.

yeah, well... it's a little hard backtracking back to the late 70's and 80's...
hell, it's hard backtracking to the late 80's...

Im into all the new rock/punk/emo bands.
I also like some metallica, white zombie, ac/dc, guns n roses, smashing pumpkins, ramones... and many other bands... I can't say I know that much kiss, led zep., rolling stones..

Parents weren't that influental when it came to music either.

But.. that's the beauty of it... see, when I have kids of my own and we're driving around and I blast up some music
and they're like 'what the **** is that?'... I'll say (and I quote) 'That's some damn good music!'

Not all of us were lucky to be born when all the good hits and the influental music came out.. but it's good to revisit the past once in a while....

Yup, I'm 48, and I'm deep into The Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Mike Watt, X, Sonic Youth, Romeo Void, The Plimsouls, Henry Rollins, Talking Heads, etc.

Had a CD in the car of 'DOS' - Watt and his former wife, I went into a store once, left the kids in the car (they were like 10 and 12 at the time) with the stereo on, came back out, a song had just ended that had the duo saying the F word every other sentence, needless to say the kids were appalled !

But this doesn't solve how to search on 'X'..........

I believe that you can't search for such a short name because it would return too many search results, i.e. every file that has an X in it! You're just going to have to find a way around it. I would also suggest that you gather a list of song names and search for them one by one.

As far as people spelling things wrong (like in your post...LOL), it's just something that you have to deal with. Try searching just part of a song name if you can't find the song with the entire title.

Here's another suggestion: try to browse the hosts that have songs by the band you're looking for. If they have one X song, they're likely to have more! Unfortunately, the browse host feature doesn't work consistently, but it helps if you have chat enabled. Plus, try browsing a host multiple times. One minute you may get 10 results, while later you could get 1,000.

Good Luck

Dano

I'm not sure what to make of your post, ie 'As far as people spelling things wrong.....'.......... I didn't bring it up, so the context of your reply makes no sense. Think about it.

Beyond that, thanks for the tips: there is no way to do what I want, so I will just deal with it. I appreciate the feedback. Kinda.

I've thought about it, and I'm pretty sure that you brought it up...no hard feelings, though, just trying to have some fun

Have a wonderful day
