Does anyone have any tricks for speed acceleration that is possible? I use a modem and my speed has never gone above 2kb/s. For example:

* if I don't excute any song searches while downloading, does that affect speed?
* if I don't run any other windows programs while downloading, does that affect speed?
* if I only download one item at a time, does that affect the speed?

I have high speed at my university, but of course it's blocked. I've tried the "force IP" trick that I've seen here, but it doesn't work. If you have any tricks that will help boost speed -- I would even be happy with 5kb/s -- please share!

Do you mean that your speed in LW is Modem? Do you have a dial-up connection? If so, have a look at Grandpa's guide here.
