Default Am I expecting too much out of Technology?

How can such a simple task of burning a DVD movie be so stinkin complicated and frustrating......LOL I just want to burn the AVI movies I download from limewire to a DVD-R that will play on any DVD player without the audio and video being off and the dvd skipping. I have been trying to figure this out for about a year now and am sick of searching the web for fixes, troubleshooting hardware etc. and this is my last hope for a solution...lol I have a nice new computer with the hardware to handle it but just cant seem to luck out on a simple burner. I have paid for Nero 7 that had to many bugs and I uninstalled it, I currently own paid for Ulead MovieFactory6, burn now, DVDCopy6, cyberlinkDVDsuiteDeluxe, and a free burner called DVDFlick that is so far the best of it all! Simple put the DVD-R in the drive and add the video files check profile settings and burn it walk to the player put it in, jump on the couch and turn up the Surround Sound. Am I expecting too much? ANY suggestions would be nicely appreciated.

Default Expecting too much from technology

Ramsmaiden

Are you expecting too much out from technology? Well yes, you are.

Domestic technology comes with a lot of hype, written by non-techie ad-men who tend to gloss over (or hide) the inherent complications and multiple tech company rivalries which prevent them from standardising on a protocol.

For example, an inherent complication is that most domestic DVD players will not play AVI films, plus you can never guarantee the quality of films downloaded from the gnutella network.

I won’t even go into the problems with “burning software” other than to say that Nero has lost it’s way since producing V5.5 and V6.0 (I can vouch for V5.5 as a truly brilliant piece of software for it’s time).

Finally, the only way you can be certain that any piece of tech kit or software will work is by doing some research prior to purchasing, i.e. finding out what real users and reviewers are saying.

ukbobby01 Thanks a million for the info and the recomendation of remoc.

Are you expecting too much out from technology? Well yes, you are. I was trying to be funny actually by that statement!!

Domestic technology comes with a lot of hype, written by non-techie ad-men who tend to gloss over (or hide) the inherent complications and multiple tech company rivalries which prevent them from standardising on a protocol. Perfectly spoken IMO! it seems that is my daily job in retirement now....searching for how to fix the things my husband messes up before reading or researching.....lol However this is the one area nither of us are experienced in.

I will let you know how it all turns out.

Thanks ramsmaiden, glad I could help.

I could have also saved you 60.00 bucks if you would have asked, but I'm just glad you got it sorted.

Merry Christmas, and have a great New Year.

P.S. Hope your rooting for the Horns.
