I, too have had exactly the same problem. Will SOMEONE please answer this question? How do you play DVDs on Mac OSX?

Default I'm new too...

I'm new too, and have been trying for several days to read threads and learn what to do to download, play, rip, etc. Have you gotten many successful movie downloads? I haven't. The best I got was a Seinfeld episode. That file had to be converted by software (freeware) called DivX for Mac version 5 alpha 2. There is a DIVX website with downloads. make sure you get versions for Mac. The other thing is that once you download it, you won't just be able to double-click on the file and watch it. You have to open this DIVX software, then open your movie file through that software (to convert), and it will make a duplicate file which is playable through Quicktime (version 6). That's the best I can do.

Since reading all of the other people's advice threads, I've also downloaded the following software (not because I know what it's supposed to do or how to use it, but because various threads have said I need it): modules.php, vlc, wmaaudio, SR241, 3ivx Delta 3.5 OSX, divosx119, Intel Indeo Video 5, vlc-0.4.3, 3ivx D4 PR1, avi2mov, divx doctor II, divxPro, DVD Extractor, mAC3dec 0.9.1, avi2mp3, convertTOQt, and MPEG2 decoder.

Tell me this isn't confusing to a beginner. There ought to be a book (is there?). I've seen "how'to's" for Windows, but not OSX. If you get more information, let me know!
