Unhappy Installed limewire, won't work "internal error"

I am using an Ibook (I'm not sure if this makes a difference)
I just 'installed' limewire for osx, it seems to have installed,
but when I go to open Limewire it refuses and gives me an error message
"Limewire has encountered an internal error ... "
and then it proceeds to describe something in code.

It is not readily apparent what I can do about this issue, but it is very frustrating that it won't even open. How can I get limewire to work on my computer?

code begins as follows:
"STARTUP ERROR
LimeWire version 2.7.11
Java version 1.3.1 from Apple Computer, Inc.
Mac OS X v. 10.2.1 on ppc
Free/total memory: 11521312/19726336

java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.MessageService.displayE rror(Unknown Source)
at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.MessageService.showInte rnalError(Unknown Source)
at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUIMediator._showIntern alError(Unknown Source)
at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUIMediator.showInterna lError(Unknown Source)
" . . . etc.

budge is flying high
Lightbulb RE: 2.7.11 internal error FIX(?)

I have the same error message on 10.1.5.

Try Double clicking on the Limewire.jar icon in the Limewire folder.
It opens as com.limegroup.gnutella..... w/ out the limewire icon in the doc but w/ a java icon or something.

Strange I know but it's worked so far for the few minutes i've been running it.
