Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. 2.8.5 Installer won't run - quits on launch Downloaded and unzipped the 2.8.5 installer to get Limewire Installer.app. Double click it to launch and nothing, it appears in the Dock for a split second then disappears. Didn't launch in 10.1.5 yesterday, I thought I'd have to wait to upgrade to Jaguar (which I also did yesterday). Now running OS X 10.2.3 and it still won't launch. At least v2.6.5 still works for me, although I get the annoying error message that all users must upgrade to 2.8.4 or something at startup... Any clues? Using a TiG4 Powerbook with 768 MB of RAM...no other problems with Jaguar thus far, I love it. Thanks in advance, Nick |

Hello, I'm having the same problem with the installer. When trying to launch the installer, it appears in the dock and then disappears. I'm running Jaugar 10.2.3. Once I updated my OS to 10.2.3, I noticed the problem with the installer. Any solutions to this problem? |

problem solved! On my parents' G4/400, which never had any version of LimeWire installed on it (at least not since I erased the HD last year to install 10.1), there was no problem installing LW 2.8.5 on Jaguar 10.2.3. So I decided to re-download the LW Installer a few days ago on my PowerBook G4, which had been having the problems, and voila, no problem. Installer ran fine and I'm now running 2.8.5 on my TiBook running Jaguar 10.2.3. It's a HUGE improvement over the 2.6.4 or whatever I was running before! So try downloading the installer again, if not email me (nyoung@mac.com) and I'll email you the copy of the installer I have...or it should be on my .Mac Public Folder for nyoung. Good luck! Nick |

I too have the same problem. When launching the installer it appears briefly in the dock and then nothing. I tried the removal and re-downloading, but to no avail. Looks like I spent my money for nothing! G4 iMAC 800 running 10.2.3 There must be a solutions somewhere, just wish someone one give it. |

I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts. Wish I would of kept the one that was running. I have been in contact with support, with no support at all. I just emailed again. I have bought both pro's and now I have neither.Over a month now. I think they ought to give us the new cd. I'm afaird to try d3a's approch. Guess I need to learn that stuff. Did anyone try? If anyone has found out anything else on these quacky installers (15 for me) please post. Vicki |

When I run the installer. It just bounces for a minute then exits. If I run it from a terminal, I get the following information: [JavaAppLauncher Error] CFBundleCopyResourceURL() failed loading MRJApp.properties file [JavaAppLauncher Error] CFBundleCopyResourceURL() failed while getting Resource/Java directory Bus error For those that don't know, a bus error usually means it's accessing memory incorrectly, say calling an address that doesn't exist. Likely, there isn't a fix for it, but is anyone aware of a workaround? |
