LimeWire Installation I am running a Powerbook G4 with OSX 10.2.6. I had Limewire, but suddenly, one day when I tried to open it I got an error that said "Limewire has unexpectedly quit" I deleted it, (I got the same error in trying to use the Limewire uninstall). I downloaded again, and upon running the install program, before it even opened, it said "The application LimeWire_Installer has unexpectedly quit." The err.txt file that appeared in the same folder says: InstallerModeController: No lock file present. Extractor Directory Not Found, using 'user.dir' Default properties location = /Users/MyUserName/Desktop/ UI Mode set to Any Ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Hi Dragon Try a clean install (run the uninstall and use the finder to search for the preference files--"limew" usually works for the search term-- that the uninstaller doesn't touch). A fresh download and install should fix the problem. if not, try Jens-Uwe Mager's build of LW for OSX http://baghira.han.de/~jum/LimeWire.html If neither of those ideas work, post back and someone should have some more ideas. Cheers |
Installer/Uninstaller not working ?? I had Limewire installed and decided to update to a newer version, but the Installer started the first screen and I clicked to continue. The progress bar advanced to about 80% and stopped. Nothing was installed so I tried the Uninstaller and it did the same thing, it spun and spun and did nothing. Whats broke? Trashed the lot and tried for a new install. . Same thing happened with the new install. HELP !! |
if you tried the above, check system preferences software update, then try the safe boot/repair permissions (restart computer with shift key and repair permissions using Disk Utility). Lots of good suggestions at http://www.macattorney.com/tutorial.html cheers |
STILL NG Stief, Permissinos repaired without change, error message as follows: InstallerModeController: No lock file present. Extractor Directory Not Found, using 'user.dir' Default properties location = /Users/chromes/Documents/Internet Downloads/untitled folder/ UI Mode set to Default - SWING. ************* Something is missing. The installer is looking for user.dir if I interpurt this correctly. None of the versions will install The app will work if it can install. Grrrr, I wish I had not thrown away the copy I had. Will check the link you provided for an answer. |
