new version quits even before opening

I am running off of OSX 10.1.5 and i've downloaded the new version(3.6.6).
It says that my installation is complete everytime, but whenever i go to start it up, the application unexpectantly quits right away.

Also, Apple currently noted a problem with Java and the new QuickTime 6.4 update. See http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n93414
