dont want to be a freeloader!

hi!

ive been running limewire through many versions with no problems at all but since i switched to 3.5.8, no one can seem to upload from me. there is an immediate "transfer interrupted" message next to any attempt with 0 uploaded. i am on mac osx and dsl, my isp doesnt start with 192 or 10 and it is a private home computer. i dont THINK im behind a firewall, but i clicked the force ip dealie just in case. im i teensy bit computer illiterate, so i dont know what other information to add. i tried perusing the forum to see if this was addressed by anyone else, i dont want to waste anyones time, but i really couldnt find anything that answered my Q. ty for the help in advance :)

Hi Dana

OSX has the firewall turned on by default, but is easily opened for gnutella.

See Apple Menu->System Preferences->Sharing->Firewall->New->Gnutella/Limewire (6346).

If that doesn't improve your uploads, give your ISP a call and ask if they block or throttle uploads to filesharing networks.

If they do (grrr), ask if they'll allow clear communications using a different port number, like 23456.

btw--LW is up to 3.8.6, and you can see what IP LW is using by looking at the LW preferences->Sample Bug Report
