limewire will not connect

Hi, good to see the Lord of The Rings is involved here, said person can keep me right!
My problem started when an automatic apple update for OS 10.3.7 arrived overnight from apple.
I installed the update and Limewire crashed. After much help from LOTR I fixed the problem by doing the following.
1) Repair permissions
2) Get rid of all existing Limewire applications
3) Download Java update 1.4.2 version 2 from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html
4)Repair permissions
5) Download os 10.3.7 update (combo) from the stand alone installer at search.info.apple.com
6) Repair permissions
7) Download Limewire
8) Repair permissions
The correct updates of java and a 'clean instalation of the os 10.3.7 update fixed everything. I hope this helps. Lord of The Rings sure helped me!

LW won't open Mac OSX user

I should have said that after downloading Limewire you should of course install it!
Sorry.

The idea was to try them one by one until one worked. Not all necessarily one after another together as a group. lol Sorry if I gave you that impression. ;)

Problem fixed

I take your point, but I was going crazy! I know it may look extreme but it worked! I think the os update bundle from apple caused a lot of people problems. I have 4 mac using friends who had the exact same problem, and lost Limewire. They all have it back now. Many thanks LOTR.

i looked in the prefereneces folder to do what lord of the rings suggests, and strangely enough, found no Limewire preferences. Did all of the reinstallations as suggested, get to 5% system optimization, and then - crash.

Strange

Did it occur to you to search for the folder called limewire? Command (or apple) & S keys.

5% optimisation after which installation? Difficult to know what you'e talking about.

Which OS X version are you using?
How much RAM & hard disk space do you have?

I just updated to LW 4.4.4 & at end of installation it showed 5% optimised & then suddenly finished. That was quick! But I'm using it now & it's working fine!

im running osx 10.3.9. i tryed every thing posted but nothing worked. im hoping that some one has an answer for this

I MISS MY LIME WIRE :(

start up

I really think this will be a Java problem linked to osx upgrades. Every time I receive automatic updates from apple my limewire stops working. This is usually a Java application problem. osx cant find limewire. Please go to the Apple/Java site and manually download the most up to date version and install. Remember to repair permissions before and after the download. Give it a try.

Regards, keep on picking!
