Corrupt file? I downloaded the file (LimeWireOSX.dmg) and opened it , but i get a pop up box saying... You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. To use the unreadable volumes, click Initialize. To continue with the disk inserted, click Continue. it gives me three buttons - Continue, Initialize, Eject. I have clicked all of them but havent managed to get it to work. I read the FAQ and tried to follow the one that tells you to change the installation file, but i didn't get it. I even tried downloading the file from different sites (download.com, pure-mac.com, ZDnet.com.au, official Limewire site) but i get the same problem every time. ...help me out if possible? |
Do a SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions & then try again. If still problems post back. If you're having problems double-clicking the dmg then try drag & drop onto Disk Copy. |
im on a Mac OS X 10.1.5 (earlier than the versions in the link you gave me), does that make a difference? |
I don't believe so no it shouldn't make any difference. Oh I could be wrong, perhaps you need to use (fsck) If you try the safe boot then use disk utility to repair permissions, then restart & install. |
As a last resort use your start up disk & open disk utility there to both repair disk & permissions. Alternatively use Norton to fix but only version 8 (version 7 was rubbish!) Double-click the harddrive icon, open the Library, open the Receipts folder, then find the file: Install LimeWire.pkg, delete it and try again. Also see: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=29131 Also: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=24703 (Stief) You could also try http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/ which is a beta version but doesn't require installation. But again, I think it's a dmg. |
