Problems Installing version 4.8.1 Hi all, Maybe I'm not posting in the right place, if so my apologies, first time user... Been a happy user of Limewire for the last 3 years at least... Recently, I upgraded to version 4.8.1 and all was well for about a week. Yesterday, I couldn't launch Limewire (bouncing Icon then disapearing). I'm on an iMac OS X 10.3.8... Tried different diagnostics/repairs to no avail. Rest of my computer works fine... So I deleted all pertaining to Limewire except my shared file that I put in another file. Re-downloaded and re-installed Limewire. The installer reported that all was OK, but it's not since I still have the bouncing icon 8 -10 times then nothing... Have deleted/re-installed 5 times but still no-go... Anyone with similar problems or ideas for solution? Is there a known problem with the downloaded package? |

If you had have gone to the OSX section of the LW section you would have seen a Sticky with solutions to your problem. See icon bouncing in Dock (click on link) |

Hi Lord of the rings, I did find the related thread but I do have the BSD installed and I did follow the suggestions to change the faulty line in the plist file but it was already OK (string Limewire string). Did not find anything with prelude... I also have Java 1.4.2 version 2 installed as I saw that the Java version could be causing problems. Recently, I found this in console.log. Looks like a Virtual Memory problem. I do have some problems with bad RAM. Maybe this is the cause. Will look further into that. If there's any other suggestions, thanks in advance !!! 4/12/05 10:38 Emplacement: /Library/Logs/Console/eric/console.log Contenu: Mac OS X Version 10.3.8 (Build 7U16) 2005-04-10 19:24:46 +0200 Error occurred during initialization of VM java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object Error occurred during initialization of VM java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object Installing LimeWire 4.8.1. no luck... Hi again, Well, no luck... As per list: -1, updated to Java 1.4.2v2 but was already there. -2, Disk Warriored, repaired disk with install CD, repaired permissions and ran fsck... -3, uninstalled/re-installed: no-go -4, installed LW Beta: no-go -5, won't install in new user or no-go also -6, installed LW 4.8.0: no-go -7, For now, re-installing OSX is not an option as all other applications work seemingly normally... Howerver, I'm starting to suspect an ill Installer but I can't find a standalone version at Apple to replace mine... Will search this further. -8, JUM version : no-go... Maybe other suggestions from you guys... Thanks |

No do step 1 again. But view bottom of this page 1st: Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link) Need to remove the Java4.2Update2.package |

Tried it. I trashed the Java142Update2.pkg and downloaded the standalone from Apple but still got an already installed message. I didn't empty the trash though while doing the Java install... Would that be of consequence? On another note, I got a kind of opened orange box as icon instead of your icon for Java142Update2.pkg...Same difference ?? |
