Default "installer not compressed or encoded"

Newbie needs help.

Installer downloaded fine to my desktop on my Mac, but
double clicking it, it threw up this error message:

The file "limewiresoftOSX" does not appear to be compressed or encoded.
It is advsed that you obtain more information about the contents of this file from the sender or provider of the file.

Anyone know what I need to do next to successfully
install Limewire Basic. Gotta get onboard the citrus.

Help with a reply here pleassseee.

I'm on a Mac g4, with OS 10.1.5 and 512 ram.

You posted in the wrong section for a start. See the stickies for installation problems for Mac OSX. I'd recommend you use Safari to downld the LW installer.

That's what I mean. See LimeWire.dmg thinks its an Excell or QuickTime document

BTW I hope you got it from here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml for the Basic for FREE or the Pro version for US $18.88

ie: see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1 & if necessary see if you can recognise the site you actually paid at here: Known Scam Sites

The official LW downld file for mac is called LimeWire.dmg NOT Limewiresoft....!!!!!!

Because the most commonly asked questions are answered in the Sticky threads. And your question has been encountered before. (As have 95% of all other posts on the forum ... no exageration!)
