Im using version 4.2.6 and need to know if i should uninstall this version before updating to version 4.9.37, im on a mac using mac os 10.3.9

To uninstall, all you need to do is trash it. Else, archive it in case you want to go back to it. If you go up to 4.9.x then if you go back, your incompletes will refuse to load & you'd need to load them via the Library window>Resume from the incomplete folder.

It would probably be wise to make 4.2 inactive whilst you're using 4.9

thanks lord, one more thing, im fairly new to this and need to know what "needs more resources" mean when i try and d/l a music file.

It means that LW was unable to find a connection. Either there were no slots available or just too difficult to connect to.

Queued = LW is too busy to handle that file at that moment. ie: your LW not theirs.
Waiting for Busy Hosts = you're in a queue for a downld (the hosts are busy with other uploads.) AFAIK
Waiting in Line, Position 9 = is similar to above, except it lists where you are in the queue. And I think the host is singular. AFAIK
Waiting #s for Sources ends up as Awaiting Sources = is what happens if you use the Resume/Find Sources function.
