Firewall

Hello, I like many others have been unable to connect to Limewire Pro because I supposedly have a firewall activated. I'm running OS 10.3.9, and I have Gnutella/Limewire (6346) selected in the firewall prefrences and have even turned the firewall off, but Limewire says I still have a firewall preventing me from connecting. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I have begun looking at firewall issues lately and I have discovered that there are several places firewall protection pops up:
1. On my mac itself ~~I have turned it off, but have also attempted to set preferences to open ports here. Incidently, I think the LimeWire documentation for system preference should be updated to better represent the latest version of OSX Tiger..

2. On my router ~~I have diabled the router firewall AND discovered that my router still blocks some ports. Therefore, I have ( I think) added port forwarding for port 6346 to my router settings.

However, I didn't need to do any of this as LimeWire says I have a "turbo-charged" connection and I can use it without a problem. I was just wondering why LimeWire was detecting a firewall and if my connection was being bottlenecked.

Hope this helps.
