Can't install: You are trying to overwrite a newer version with an older one When I try to install, and I click the hard drive I wish to install onto, i get the message : "The chosen Volume contains software which is newer than the software you are installing, Installing this software will replace the newer version with an older version." I click continue, then when I click install, i get the message: "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install" This is of course using the latest installer. I have tried deleting the old Limewire app. that i was updating from, but that didn't work. I know the Limewire I was using was actually an older one, because i kept getting annoying "A new version is available!" messages when I turned it on. Now i have deleted my old limewire, and still can't install the new one. Any ideas? |
Which OSX and which Java version do you have? also are you trying to install from a DMG file and was it downloaded with Safari? (downloading with IE does not usually work) Are you trying to install onto your start up disk? I don't think another disk will work |
Got it working - I deleted the limewire files from my library also then rebooted, then the installation worked fine. Dunno what the problem was there. |
I imagine some sort of damage had occurred to your preference folder for Limewire, or the new version was not fully compatible with the existing preferences, which seems to have happened a couple of times recently. Deleting the preference folder was going to be my next suggestion. Glad you have sorted it:) |
