Default Limewire freezes

I just downloaded the latest version of limewire 4.11.1, and for some reason it freezes every time I use it. I havent heard anyone mention anything about this version, so Im wondering if I somehow got it by mistake, but I tried downloading an earlier version, but the installer on my Mac iBook G4 (which is running OSX, by the way) would not allow me to complete the download. Does anyone know of a fix ?

How much ram & available HDD space do you have?

The LW 4.11.1 is the new beta. It does have some bugs. You might be better going for the 4.10.9 for the time being. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

I would also highly recommend making sure your LW is using Java 1.5; Setting up Java 1.5

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? If yes it means you have firewall problems which might be either OSX firewall or your modem/router's NAT firewall; see Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Thanks for your help, I do have plenty of space left on my HD. Im assuming its just some kind of bug, because Im using the correct Java, and although it is still visible, I turned off my firewall, and opened my gnutella/limewire port. Ive decided to just trash the limewire app, and go with the new frostwire version which seems to be working just fine, so far. (knocking on wood)

Thanks again for your help and providing those links for me !

The newer LW beta 4.11.4 uses less ram & vm than previous versions (including many bug fixes.) Perhaps you might be interested in seeing if it fixes your problem. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml
