Default Can't share my own files - why?

Hello! I'm on a Mac G4 (Quicksilver) and G4 Powerbook. I cannot seem to share the files which I've created. I use basic Limewire version 4.10.9. I have not updated to the latest version due to all of the conflicts I've been reading about with Java, Limewire and Macs. If it ain't broke... don't fix it!

However I now have a need to share some of my own files - and I can't get them to "take" for lack of a better word. I put the newly created files into my "Limewire Downloads" folder and they show up just fine in the Library. I edit them for statistics. I refresh the folders. They are THERE! I can launch them. Under Library, I click on each file and make sure that it's "shared". YET... when I do a search on them, they never, ever show up in my searches. I have tried this twice over several months. Nothing either time. I've tried with mpg, jpg, jpeg and even lowly wmv. Nothing shows up in searches.

I've even had other people do searches from their systems - both Mac and PC - and nothing. What am I doing worong? What am I missing?

Thanks!

lol I can't find my own shared files either. That's normal. LW is designed so you can't find your own shared files in searches. Apparently "some" people can search & find their own files by doing a direct connect search to themselves. But it's never worked for me. And I also use a quicksilver g4. What counts is uploads & hits. Go to the LW Library window & click on the folder that has the shared files. Look to the far right columns. Look under Hits column. That represents how many people have found your files in their searches. Likewise the uploads column shows if anybody has uploaded them.

BTW I prefer to set up shared files independently of the download folder. I think that's wiser. But perhaps that's just me. I like to have more control over what's downlded & shared. Don't forget your Monitor window shows what files "are" being uploaded at that moment.

That's for the response but the weird thing is that I've tried searching for my files from other locations and IPs. I just can't get them from anywhere. Here... try it yourself and see. I'm using this silly little file of a friend as a test. See if you can get it. Silja Dreyer - Hamburg - Volksdoerf -Bubble - bath.mpg

Send us a magnet link by personal message. I'll see if I can connect to it.

BTW do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

You need to be sure the filetype you're sharing is allowed.

Hi! No I'm not firewalled on this. Tons of people upload my already downloaded files every day. No problems.

The file is allowed.

I've never used magnet link. I'll have to research that. Unless you can tell me how to do it now.
