LM 4.12basic: osx10.4.6 installs but wont setup or open
 

OH HELP!:( (real real sad)

i have an almost brand new macbook OSX 10.4.6 and when i tried to download LWbasic 4.12 i get stuck in this weird instilation loop! LimewireOSX.dmg downloads just fine to the desktop and the installation wizard opens automaticallly and installs normally, but where it should start the setup wizard, the only option is 'close'. A limewire icon appears on the desktop but when opened it is the installation wizard again, and LimeWireOSX.dmg wont open at all anymore. All i can do is install!
i looked all over this site and lime wire's and found several similar problems,
but none of the solutions worked for me.
i upgraded my java to the newest version and i configured my firewall correctly per the instrustions that "lord of the rings" posted. still the same.
Please help if you can!!!!!!

naw, i was using safari, i dont even have explorer.
i treid removing it and reloading it just now anyway though, but nothin...

Do a safe boot & repair permissions, & try again. ie: Restart the computer whilst holding down the SHIFT key until you see Safe boot option .. choose it. After it has totally started up, use the Go menu > Utilities & find Disk Utility & open, & repair permissions. Then reboot normally.

If no fix then see the tips here Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link). Consider each one until the last. Sometimes the last is the best, but solving the issue is the ideal approach.

well, tried your process lord of the rings, but still just an installer...
My computer is indeed an intel mac and i have quicktime 7.1.3. i havent updated yet because i have found in the past that often my mac updates come with things i dont want that restrict certain things. I may ust be paranoid though, do you think getting that update might help?
i am going to go spend some quality time with that link now, hopefully i will find an answer.

oh also, the limewireOSX.dmg enlarges as if it were opening when i click on it, but then nothing happens at all. no setup still.

i got it to work, not sure how though, i got the full software update and tried numbers 1,2,3, and 5 on the link you gave me. Nothing. i was planning try loading an older version of LM right now but i tried out the one i had just for the hell of it and it worked this time. weird

also i know its unrelated but i was wondering if you know of a "mytunes" sort of program that is compatable with macs. (lets you download music from people you are networked with rather than just listen)

I haven't heard of it. But if you're networked to them then perhaps you can just copy from their libraries if you have access to that part of their computer (account.)
