Limewire Install Help I'm brand new using Mac's and wanted to dl Limewire to get some new music. I used it on my pc before so I went to the site and dl'ed the mac version (non beta 4.12.11). I did the install, clicked on the icon and nothing happened. I read through the forums on here and saw different solutions, trying most of them but either nothing happened or they still didn't work. I am running OS X 10.4.8 on the Intel Core Duo's. If anyone could help me with step by step directions I would be thankful! -1tree |
Once downloaded, there should be a file called "LimeWireOSX.dmg" on your desktop (or where ever Safari downloads files). Double-clicking the .dmg should open a disk image called "LimeWire" Inside the disk image, there should be a green icon to double-click, which will start the installer process. How far in the process did you get? Cheers |
This is the same problem I'm having. I open the installer and get completely through it, but after it says the install has been completed, nothing happens. No icon to put in Applications or anything. Also, I don't know if this means anything, but when I first open the installer, the Limewire icon appears on the bottom of the screen, bounces, and then disappears. |
i'm having the same problem with mac os x version 10.4.9 when i'm on the LW page, i click on the mac os x link when it asks to choose my platform, but the link goes to this page: Lime Wire » Thank You for Downloading LimeWire but it is completely blank with the heading "Limewire>>thank you for downloading limewire" i've also tried to download beta and got the same thing. i restarted my computer, and even set up a LW firewall i saw in another post.. still nothing. i feel really pathetic.. any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated! |
pammykay--the download page changed, but your link works fine now. KaoKoKung--the bouncing and disappearing icon indicates your java needs attention: restart in "Safe Boot" mode (hold down the shift key right after the startup sound), then run Software Update from the Apple Menu. If that still doesn't work, reinstalling java will probably be necessary and is more problematic. |
