Unhappy Was connecting well, now It wont connect anymore

OK. LW is not connecting anymore on my computer, I get an eternal 1 bar starting connection message. I have done many things I've seen posted but nothing seems to work, also when it does connect I use it for 10 minutes, start downloading (no more than 5 downloads at the same time) and the one click and the eternal forever lasting pinwheel.-... I always have to force exit LW and use it again and so on.. my computer is getting tired of this and me too. I bought PRO thinking iit would work better than the free version but It only gets worse. I already did the preferences folder thing, etc... I hope someone can help. Here is my system info.

1. OS version? 10,3,9
2. What firewalls you have? None
3. How much ram? 256MB
4. Hard Disk space available? 40G
5. Connection type? DSL cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? MOTOROLA SB5101 SURFBOARD CABLE MODEM

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW Pro 4,12,11 Java 1,4,2_12
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Cablevision (mexico)
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Error message saying cant connect
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.I HAVE BEEN USING OIT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall. I am sure I dont have one

CableVision = Optimum Online.
However, they behave differently in different regions/areas of their control. Question is whether you have been affected by their secret anti-p2p policies.

Try this -> Go to LW's Preferences (keyboard shortcut is ,) & scroll down to Advanced > Firewalls. Then change the listening port to 64049. Then press apply & OK. Go to File menu & select Disconnect. Wait 2 minutes. Then go back to file menu & choose Connect. See if it connects. If not, go back to Firewall settings & set to manual port forward & change both Port settings to 64049 & repeat process. If still no good, try other port selections between 49152 - 65535

Let us know how you get on.

BTW are you sure your OSX firewall is turned off?

Use a different connection & listening port to that of your roommate's. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & make the changes there & restart LW. Try a port between 49152 - 65535; a good one to try is 64049.

Also, make sure you configured your firewall to give LW full access; User Cant Connect - LimeWire (click on blue link)

1. Make sure your OSX firewall is turned off. Else configure it to allow LW; OSX Firewall settings for Tiger

2. Try deleting your LW preferences folder whilst the program is CLOSED. The prefs folder is found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

Often when changing over to LW pro, it's a good idea to delete the LW prefs folder.
If these 2 things don't help, let me know. Perhaps a different version will help. That's if the problem is not your ISP.

I have a suspicion the problem is your airport ... definitely the wireless process. All wireless devices include an internal NAT firewall. I was not aware there were other brands of Airport. The timing out of you going to that test page means port 6346 is totally blocked. Have you seen this? Apple Airport Extreme/Express for Mac users * (NAT-PMP). The setting in LW Advanced>Firewalls should be set to UPnP if you use this.

Also, see OSX Firewall settings for Tiger. Though personally I keep my OSX firewall disabled. It conflicts with the firmware in my new router. And for OSX, a firewall is not really as necessary as those who use windows machines. I only use it if I am visiting 'suspect' web sites.

If your connection type to your ISP is wireless, then the firewall might be at their end.
