Unhappy Help! I think LW is loosing HDD space

I am loosing HDD space by the day, and I appears to be LW canceled downloads. I spent 2 hours with the Genius's at the Apple store trying to find where my space had gone--no dice.

I suspect LW (v4.14) because I found a lot of large torrents and decided to dl them all at once. Just then all my HDD space disappeared. So I canceled them immediately, but my space did not return. So, I what now?.....

In LW's Library, you can delete incomplete files. See if the torrents are there first.

Also, if LW has been running for a while, Virtual Memory can grow over 1.5 GB. A restart of the machine usually starts fresh, and recovers about 1 or mor GB of free space. If you don't want to restart, just Quit LW, and run another java application, like Apple's Java Web Start.app (it's in the Applications/Utilities/Java folder)

Yes be careful with torrents, they tend to immediately take up the space the moment you choose to download them, reserving that space. It's amazing how fast torrents can fill the drive up without realising. My recommendation is to save your torrents to an alternate drive if you have one. Same applies to the regular LW downloads. The incomplete folder can really bloat out in size very quickly. Arrange your folder by list & check for the incomplete folder & downloads folder sizes.

Another tip: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link). But only if your incomplete folder is out of control. Try not to remove incomplete torrents unless you are having problems getting sources/seeds for them to download from.
