Default LimeWire Pro Doesn't Recognize Itself

okay. so, i'm using mac osx 10.4 - tiger, and i already have the most recent version of limewire downloaded. i buy lw pro, download the file from the link and run the program, do the install, but there's no change in my lw. it's just the same old program. have i neglected to do some sort of update? do i need to uninstall and reinstall? someone please help me. also, i did download it from the official lw site, so it wasn't a scam. i got the confirming email and i can access the download page.

Hi all, this seems like a great site, and my only question is 'how I am able to burn what I download to a cd?" I find nothing that shows me that, and I'd appreciate any info you may wish to share.

(1) Go to connections window, how many connections does it show? For Pro it should be 5 unless running in UP mode. (2) How many connection bars do you see on front window bottom left ... should be 5 light blue connection bars. (3) Go to menu bar, click the LimeWire name next to Apple icon at far left, choose About LW & see if it says pro. If yes then you're in luck.

The actual program looks identical. The improvements are connecting to more ultrapeers which helps with searching for rarer files. Also you are able to download from up to 10 hosts per file compared to Basic's 8 hosts, which will arguably mean faster downloads if you connect to decent hosts.

samnbrone this topic has nothing whatsoever to do with burning CD's. Have a look in this section & this sticky: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/tips-t...ps-tricks.html. (my guess is you don't even use a mac computer.)

unfortunately, it would appear i am not in luck. about limewire tells me it's not pro and i still have 5 green connection bars. as for the connection window, i'm not even sure what that is. sorry for the trouble, but i really would like to get this figured out. thank you for replying so fast.

View menu -> Show/Hide .. choose Connections will bring up the connections window.

'If' you bought LW pro .. then they'd have sent you an email with a link to your personal download page which you should bookmark. If no such email, then I doubt you bought LW from the 'Official' site; Known Scam Sites (click on link).

Limewire.org do NOT advertise so if you clicked a link in a google or other search engine link then chances are you ended up at a scam site.

ah, see, there's the rub. i read your other post about scam sites and i can assure you, lord of rings, that i did get a confirmation email and that i did buy it from limewire llc. i'm sure i'm just doing something stupid. do i need a more recent java version? do i need to uninstall/reinstall? i'm completely bewildered and i think you can see why.

Check these two links & compare with yours: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post320755. Do you have the same Pro personal download page?

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...tml#post324548 which shows the Pro installer, and the pro word when LW is starting up. And also shows the about LW.

One piece of advice about upgrading to Pro ... it's best to delete the LW preferences whilst LW is CLOSED, so then Pro will not be using the older Basic's preferences settings. Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX

Oh .. one thought that's crossed my mind is .. you still have LW Basic on your computer. And the alias (shortcut) or LW in Dock is actually the Basic version & not Pro. Search your computer to see how many versions of LW you have on your system. Select applications at search type. (Command F ie: F )

If Basic is still on the system, then drag & drop it to the trash.
