Default Unplayable files

Sorry guys I have a few questions. I have the latest OSX and Limwire. I have have problems with files downloaded from Limwire. I can't play any of the AVI files. I have tried to download programs and extension and everything and they still aren't playable. Another problem is that I also noticed a lot of playable files are all the same file with different name. Are they spams or something is wrong with limewire setting?

We normally recommend this player VLC - (click on link). Else get Perion though VLC will play all video & audio files you find on gnutella network. If VLC cannot play it then it's probably a dud file.

And yes, be wary of spam. Some tips: Movie download issues (click on blue link) (2nd last post has information on best video formats.) and Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see).

BTW no need to double-post, your post will be seen.

Then the files are probably no good. There's a lot of spam out there.
What are the file sizes of the files that will not play & are they audio or video?
And what are the file extensions of them?

avi are usually ok. But the size is typical spam. 11.5 MB & 12.1 MB are typical spam. Did you see those samples in the link I gave above. They're not the only ones but the most common.

Unless they are music video clips, most videos under 100 MB are porn & such spammed. Typical movie video should be 500 MB or larger. TV episode perhaps 200 MB .. varies.
