Default LimeWire bounces once in dock, doesn't open

I have installed the most recent version of LimeWire onto my MacBook with Leopard (OSX 10.5.7). I have used it many times successfully in the past, but now, when I attempt to open LimeWire, it bouces up and down exactly once and does not open. I have tried to restart my laptop and that doesn't work... what should I do?

Have you ever had success with using LW 5?
If not you will need to downgrade; http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...downloads.html

Reboot into safe mode, holding down the shift key until the apply icon shows. Then log into your account. Open Disk Utility & repair permissions. Reboot normally. See if that helps.

Make sure Java 1.5 is somewhere near top of the list: Setting up Java for Leopard (see 2nd image)

Yes, I have successfully downloaded 50+ things from LimeWire 5 in the past many times.

Does "Java SE 6" mean Java 6? (see attached picture, those are my current settings for Java)

Yes it does. Move both the 64 bit version javas further at top. Not sure how much difference it makes but it might.

Have you tried setting up a Test account to see if LW behaves properly there? Setting up a Test Account in OSX (click on link)

I just made a test account, and LW still bounced up and down exactly once while in the dock. I also tried to downgrade to the 4.something version, but it was too complicated. What should I do?

If downgrading to LW 4, you need to first remove the install limewire.pkg from the Library receipts folder; Receipts folder sample image

I have the exact same issue with the icon bouncing in the dock and not opening. I've tried these suggestions but no success Anything else we can try?? I have the same specs as "colbybermel" with the exception that mine never opened. Thanks in advance!

Not giving diagnosis or anything, but this happened to me once before. I would click away and it wouldn't open for nothing.
Turned out sadly...that i had a *TROJAN* , want to know why I emphasized the word Trojan? because it's bad, as bad as MJ.

If a Java update didn't do it then i recommend an Anti-Malware scan.
If it isn't a virus then it might be a compatibility issue...?

Hi colbybermel !
My daughter had the same type of problem with a macbook (intel processor, mac os 10.5.7 After JAVA update from apple LW did only bounce ones in the dock and that's it.
So what we did is the following :
download offline installer for the latest Java - this didn't help..
Putting Java 6 higher in the list... this didn't help
Then we did all apple updates that were available for her macbook, throwed away the install limewire.pkg (this wasn't necessary, but ok...)
repared authorisations (a must after updates !) and installed LW 5.1.4
everything OK.
Most of the times this is a Java problem (like doing the Java update while a browser is running). You can download the offline installer here :http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...05update4.html
Normally it will install without bizarre messages. Reboot, repair authorisations, install LW 5.1.4 and normally it should run.
To my knowledge there are no troyan horses that are able to cause problem to a mac.
succes !
