Did you do a 'safe' boot & repair permissions? Delete your LW preferences folder (however remove the old Downloads.dat file before trashing the folder.) See if LW starts up at all. If it does, close LW & put the old downloads.dat file back inside the preferences folder. Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX If still not working, you could try the LW beta LimeWire 5.2.2 (Beta) - Lime Wire & even try one of the older versions see if it works at all. There is a Pro Beta version found at right side of your Pro download page, likewise for older versions. But to install an older version you'd need to first remove the install limewire.pkg file from the Library -> Receipts folder. |

Hi! Thanks for your fast answer !! I did remove ALL of the LW Pro ; throw away the install.pkg, repair authorisations, checked disk. Réinstalled a "normal" version 5.1.3 but still no effect. The icon bounces onces and that's it. I tried to move the Java in their preference file : nope; The only change between yesterday and this morning was the apple Java update. Yesterday LW worked perfectly, after update it doesn't even want to launch... I'll try the beta version and let you know. |

I'm sorry to come back with bad news.... I did buy today which I thought to be the 5.2.2 Pro version, but it found out to be the 5.1.3 version. Where can I find the 5.2.2 Pro beta version without paying again ?? Since I did an Apple upgrade for Java this morning, ( Mac OS 10.5.7) my older version (5.1.2 Pro) refuses to launch. Same for 5.1.3 version. Only the 5.2.2 version works well, but I got the 5.1.3 version, while I thought to pay for the 5.2.2 version. Not really clear your download pages... As for pesonal download page ??? Never seen Thanks in advance for your explications and help !! |

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate ! Got it downloaded and it works fine. Just one remark : The LW icon in the dock is not stable, the red spot is not round and the numbers are aside... Not really important, but might as well say it. I will come back in a couple of days with my impressions about this beta. Have a nice day ! Last edited by vosgpat; July 6th, 2009 at 04:50 AM. |

I recall seeing something similar. Cannot recall where or when. I was unable to use LW 4.18 or 5 last year or first part of this year. I'd been using LW 4.16. I installed a 2nd OSX on a different drive & LW 5 runs fine there. Then one day not too long ago I gave LW 5 another go on my main OSX & it worked. It's my guess one of the OSX updates fixed something. In your scenario, I'm wondering if that last Java update has somehow not installed as well as it should. One possibility is you download either the standalone Java installer & reinstall it, else the OSX Combo installer. The Java installer might tell you there's no update needed, I'm not sure. |

Yes, I also have been thinking about a bad install, but everything seemed to go well and the installer program didn't mention any problem. I try to do all the updates that Apple proposes via the automatical update system. The yesterday's update was only for Java but that's all I remember. LW was turning during the download of this update. I had to reboot the computer after the Java install and, surprise, LW didn't launch no more ! Of course I tried to repare authorisations, check disk, check Java preferences... Nothing helped... So I deleted my LW Pro and tried, at your recommandation, the beta version 5.2.2 Basic. And that worked well. But I didn't hear anything else about this problem on other forums, so I think I might have an incomplete install ( which seems almost unbelievable) or some other problem which I still have to find. I hate unsolved problems... Where can I drop my remarks about the beta version ? Have a nice day ! |

LimeWire Forums There will be an offline standalone Java installer. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...05update4.html Online installers are known to be a little trouble-some sometimes. If you had LW running during the update process, then that in itself may have corrupted something. BTW I'm sorry I updated to the latest Safari. It's hopeless compared to last version. It just crashed on me & has been so slow & unreliable since the update. And it's been a PITA to use. I'm strongly considering downgrading my safari.
