Strange "Fatal Error" I've had LimeWire installed properly on my system several times. But since yesterday when trying to install it I always get these two error messages: "Unable to launch Java Application The property files is missing an essential property: lax.main.class. Please make sure it exists in the properties file: /" After I okayed this message, another one would come up: "Unable to launch Java Application Unable to locate the application's 'main' class. The class 'null' must be public and have a 'public state void null (String[])' method. (LAX)" After I okay this message, the installer quits. I can't make ANY sense of what the messages say, but maybe someone of you can help me. I've already tried downloading a fresh installer and also reinstalling MRJ, but none of it helps. |
This worked for me The Problem: Unable to Launch Java Application Unable to locate the application’s ‘main’ class. The class ‘com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main’ must be public and have a ‘public static void main(String[])’ method. (LAX) Details: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main at com.zerog.lax.LAX.launch(Compiled Code) at com.zerog.lax.LAX.main(Unknown Source) at com.apple.mrj.JManager.JMStaticMethodDispatcher.ru n(JMAWTContextImpl.java) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java) THE SOLUTION: from the Trash retrieve the IAClasses.zip folder (if it's not there reinstall Limewire. Failure of this folder to unzip and install is the problem!). Unzip it with Stuffit Expander (ver.7 doesn’t do it for me but the older 6.5.1 did). Drop the UNSTUFFED folder into your System Folder [or Limewire folder, whichever works]. Reboot. Launch Limewire. |
Well I tried that - it seemed logical - but putting the unstuffed .zip folder in the LimeWire folder or in the System Folder didn't work - still got the same message. I even tried putting the unstuffed folder in the MRJ folder in Extensions - no soap. I'll go back to v. 2.4.4 - it works. Any other ideas, let me know - <stuh@localnet.com> Thanks. |
Same problem here with Mac 9.1. This is really bad stuff. |
I also dragged the IAClasses folder out of the trash, tried first the System Folder, then the LimeWire folder, and neither worked. I am still getting that same bizarre fatal error message. Very frustrating, because I had already uninstalled the old version. Won't make that mistake again. |
Installation problem -Fatal error I run Mac 9.1 and have had the same problem. I've tried the fixes but still no good - is the Pro version any better for the $9? |
fatal error Same problems i tried to upgade cause old version wasnt woking very well now i cant use it all. Thanks LimeWire! Check this stuff out before you release it. Maybe its a ploy to make us pay. |
java failure lameness. Installers need to be tested before software is released! I've had about 5 versions of Limewire & they always fail to boost the memory partition required by the installer & now with this version, it destroys a functioning install. I tried the small install (non-MRJ) since I already had it running & then the large - neither seems to work & the workarounds posted don't seem to get it for me. Maybe it should be called LAMEwire. |
Same problem here, Same bad feelings. |
Java error I too tried the above listed fixed with no fix to the problem. I was going along fine with Pro 2.7 and just started having freezing probelms today. Decided to de-install/re-install and developed the same issues. |
