What type of file? The LimeWire application? Or a music/video file?

If it's LimeWire, then I have no idea. I would suggest re-downloading it. Make sure you get it from LimeWire's site.

If it's music or video, then I would think it to mean that you have QuickTime selected as the default player but for some reason it is unable to play the file. It's either missing something or a wrong file type for your version of QT.

Default quicktime reply question

it opens up quicktime. the only thing i see is quicktime in the finder area where it tells you what program is running. no windows open up or anything. i downloaded from the limewire site and this is the third time i've downloaded it. if my default is to open up in quicktime, do you know how or where i can change that.

Wow. I'm not too sure.

When I download LimeWire, I get a file on my desktop named: LimeWire Installer. When I double-click it, it begins the installation process. I would say that something is messed up if your system picks the QuickTime application to run the installer (Obviously).

I would go to the Apple Discussion Boards and ask there. They will probably be able to tell you how to fix this. Here's the link.
Assuming, of course, that you are using OS 9.x. If not, navigate through the site to find the Discussion Board for the system you are using. There are alot of very helpful people there.

Good luck.
