Lightbulb don't tell me what the error message says

Thank you for your input on the subject. "Typically," though, people know what computer they have. I'm having the same problem on a mac which, by the way, do use zips.

Question same problem

I am having the same perpelxing problem. I have a Mac, and have been downloading from the Mac link. The icon for the installer appears on the desktop, but upon launch I get the same message described previously - the zip file contained within is corrupt. Re-downloading the installer only results in the same. Is there anywhere else to download a different installer file?

had same problem. Leave the zip files for what they are , you're probably downloading windowfiles (exe).Try to download the sit-files of the same software.

Default Try this:

Many Mac users are having problems with the LW 2.8.x anyway so you may want to backup and give this one a try. It works well for me.

Tried above link and downloaded ... trouble is same "file corrupt" message occured. Is there any way to download an earlier version where this won't occur as with 2.8? I was able to use it late last night but now the file corrupt message keeps showing up.

Unhappy installer

I haven't been able to get an installer to open, period. I have downloaded at least 50 of them. or at least it feels like it. I have never gotten a corrupt installer, message or anything. When I double click it, it justs sits there. The tech people have not even been able to help.
I'm hoping by now somebody has figured it out. Anybody out there?????????????
Any info, appreciated.

Lightbulb Re: Installer

I merely gave up and went to downloads.com and sought to see if the earlier version (2.8.5 rather than 2.8.6) would work ... to my amazement it did! Version 2.8.6 I belive still works in OS Xv.x. But as for the latest installer version I simply gave up ... just doesn't seem to work. Period.

Unhappy

I used Limewire 1.7 with no problems up until about a month ago, mainly because I couldn't get more recent limewires to install. I recently removed 1.7 and tried to install 2.8.5 (noVM). The installer starts up and then just hangs. No indication, no nothing. I've waited for several minutes thinking that it was doing something but to no avail. This behavior has been repeated using 2.7.13 as well as several of the 2.8 versions. I am on a Rev B iMac (233 MHz) with 160 Mbyte RAM, running MacOS 8.6.

As I said I was happy with 1.7 until it stopped working (i.e. not finding any files). Since limewire said upgrade if you are running < 2.6, I did. Now I got nothing. Thankfully I found iSwipe.
