Angry What gives after initial download?

I had a VERY, VERY old version of limewire running on my mac os 8.6, and i finally decided to upgrade after being out to sea for quite sometime, anyway, after i download the new version, 3.6.14, the icon shows up on my desktop. The only problem is when i try to open it, it opens in quiktime and nothing comes up, what is the problem? I dont even get an install screen or anything, did I do something majorly wrong? Oh yeah, the icon is simply a blank looking page, as though it were a text document. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Nick
