![]() Hello lovely Limewire people I have an iMac running on the OS 9.2.1 system. I've recently had to re-install all the software on this computer though, due to a problem with my hardrive. Anyway, everything re-installed perfectly, with the exception of; yes, you've guessed it, Limewire. So...here's what happens. 1. I download the software from your website 2. I click on the Limewire Installer icon 3. The 'Trash' can immediately is filled with the 'Install Anywhere' and two different numbered 'delete' files. 4. Limewire clock appears, and language choice etc. 5. List of questions start. Where to install, create alias on desktop please, etc. etc. all this is fine. 6. I click on 'Install' and more or less straight away - half a centimetre of blue time line appears on the timeline - and the installation crashes. The entire computer freezes and I have to start again. What, if anything, am I doing wrong and ps, I'm not a computer literate person (so guess that doesn't help, but please do bear this in mind when explaining) Please help me, I'm so god damn bored with no Limewire cheers Greg. |

![]() couple of ideas: try reinstalling java http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097 In Control Panels->Extension Manager, turn off all non-Apple extensions (especially any "FaxStf" ones) |

![]() Okay, I tried this and here is what happened: 1. I tried reinstalling java at the address supplied. There was a messge at download completion that read 'The ShrinkWrap engine has reported an error'. However, java seemed to reinstall properly and without problems. 2. In the Extension Manager, I reverted back to "OS 9.2.2. base" instead of 'my settings', restarted the iMac and then reinstalled LimeWire. This time the application seemed to install properly and saved an alias on the desktop (square with green plug icon). I clicked on this to open LimeWire and during the start-up the following message flashed up; 'Your save directory is not valid. It may have been deleted, you may not have permissions to write to it, or there may be another problem. Please choose a different directory'. So I tried: Saving on different areas of the hard drive - preferences, Mac OS 9 applications, system folder. Each time, the same 'save directory' message kept flashing up. Then I went back to the Extensions manager and reverted to "OS 9.2.2. all" and started all over again, but still the same 'save directory' message came back. What should I do now? I'm not really an expert but reckon something has changed since my hard drive was re-installed. Can you help me? Greg |

![]() Okay Upon running the programme, have now tried 'saving' Limewire in one of the other directories offered up by the 'save directory' query. Now Limewire seems to run, but only as far as 'Upgrade to LimeWire Pro' option, whereupon it quits. Tried running the programme again. Same thing happening - quits everytime I get to 'Upgrade to LimeWire Pro' message. Any ideas? |

![]() You might want to make sure you have the latest version Java. The latest version for Mac OS 9.2x is 2.2.5. You can download the latest version at Apple's website from the following link: <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097> I hope this helps solve your problem. |

![]() hi again gregb spearson knows OS 9.2 better, but since you've already done the java and extensions steps, I'd guess the next would be to look at memory allocation. How much RAM do you have, and how much is allocated to LimeWire? (click on the LimeWire application icon, and use "Get Info"). See what poster callahan has to say about memory in this thread http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...8221#post98221 |
