1st update your Java: MRJ 2.2.5 for OS 8.1-9.2 & try again. From memory, there will be an installer that ends up on your desktop. It's like a disk image I think. It's been a while.
After installing rebuild the Desktop file by restarting & holding down Command (Apple)+Option keys.

As an xtra point about OS 9 see this point about ram & apple, etc. (click on link.)

Default installation woes!

Thanks..have already checked...MRJ 2.2.5 installed n running. Have PM 9500 OS 9.1 Sonnet G4 card, 1G of ram and generous disk cache. Also increased memory for installer but it installs to trash! 3 files...Installanywhere Sealog, IA JavaInstaller(delete)32883 and MRJInstaller(delete)422785 ! Java Installer folder contains Installer data and Mac OS folders and mac os folder contains limewire installer.lax and mnlmb extension. If I drag these out of the trash still no luck. What the...!

I had the same thing happen to me about 3 years ago. I can't remember what the solution was. I don't suppose you've thought about updating to OS 9.2.2 updates & getting Java MRJ 2.2.6 for OS 9.2.2

Did you dwnld the english installer or the international one?

Although some files end up in the trash. Are ou sure it didn't also install to your HDD?

What do you mean when you drag them out of the trash still no luck?

Yup that would probably solve a lotta problems but unfortunately the people at Sonnet technologies decided their G4 cards will not support 9.2.x! There's gotta be a way n its probably staring right at me! If I find a solution I'll post it for others..in the meantime if you think of sumthin please advise. Thanks man!

Further to that I found version tracker where yu can choose your version. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/mo...1640&mode=info Correction, it will only let you dwnld the latest version. You can try dwnlding it again. Perhaps from this source. Might make no diff. but worth a try.

It looks as though we're out of luck for the earlier OS 8-9 versions. Only a month or 2 ago you could still get a number of LW version 3 versions. But they removed that page & replaced it with the 1st link I gave you.
