LimeWire not working with my Mac

Can anyone help? I've read everything on this site, tried everything and still nothing. Limewire was working fine until I upgraded Panther. Now, it doesn't even come on. I've un-installed and re-installed it about 5 times and nothing. What the...?

New and improved, aye? Old Mac.

A few months back I "upgraded." Best I could figure I had no choice. It was crap, I trashed it. The previous version worked fine and I was happy. What's the status of getting that one back? Running Mac OS 8.6. Yeah yeah, dinosaurs. It works for me--has all I want or need.

What I'd be concerned about with OS 8.6 is your Java version! I ran LW on OS 8.5 for a few years until about 8 months ago. I had major issues with Java. At least with OS 9 you can get a later version of Java.

As for OSX, I'd suggest you re-install Java using the Standalone Java installer (not the Softw Update program which installs over the net.) Get the standalone Java installer here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html

Else try the Jum beta build: http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/

I was doing fine with LW pro until recently. I run both 'X' and Classic on separate G4's. Several days ago I updated to 4.0.10. and everything went down the tube with OS9. Wish I hadn't accidentally tossed my old one.

I was just about to go Panther on the other G4 until I started to read about the LW problem. Any ideas on what's causing this? Several years with no problems at all and now the bottom falls out.

I too have LW 4.10.0 on my PPC with OS 9.2.2 and it won't run. It freezes the computer when the box comes on asking to upgrade to Pro. Is there any way to get the older versions that worked just fine?

* Whilst LW's closed, try trashing your LW preferences found at the top of the Preferences folder when it's viewed in list mode & called .limewire

* Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

LW seem to have their reasons for taking the older versions out of operation (such as for the health of the Gnutella netwk), but with these older versions there always seems to be those that suffer with particular versions.
